Beyond Meter Data: Using Circuit-Level Energy Use Data to See Actual Building Performance and Drive Improvement
This panel will illustrate what can be learned from circuit-level energy use data, on its own and in combination with whole-building data and other customer insights. The speakers will discuss how this rich information could be used by a range of audiences, from building occupants and managers who can improve operations, to program planners and implementers who can refine offerings or customer targeting.

Using Building Energy Rating and Disclosure to Motivate Energy Improvements
Understanding how much energy buildings use and how that translates into operating costs has been an increasingly important pursuit within the enegy efficiency sector, from policymakers to property managers. In this sessions, we will hear the City of Boston’s perspective on the recently passed Boston Building Energy Repporting and Disclosure Ordinance (BERDO), and from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts on the innovative methodologies being tested as part of the state’s Commercial Building Asset Rating (BAR) pilot.

Energy Efficiency University with Professor Harvey Michaels
Most energy efficiency professionals are practitioners. Our days are focused on the “what” and the “how.” Today’s college students, however, have the opportunity to study the theoretical and policy issues raised by our work. They think about the “why” and the “what’s next.” In this session, we’ll all have the opportunity to spend some time back in the classroom as Harvey Michaels leads a discussion of some of the issues he covers in his classes at M.I.T.
Speaker: Harvey Michaels, Energy Efficiency Scientist and Lecturer, Massachusetts Institute of Technology
2:15 PM – 3:00 PM
Building the Workforce of the Future
The aging utility workforce has been dubbed the “silver tsunami.” And as states continue to ramp up investments in energy efficiency and clean energy, we see an ongoing need for new talent in our field. What kinds of skills are needed today, and what are the jobs of the future? In this panel we will hear from an expert in green workforce, a leading utility, and we’ll learn about Connecticut’s award-winning E-House trade school program.
